I have heard others talk about this. It almost happened to me. I am glad to report I have finished Jinxsa's socks. They were posted to her yesterday. Proper photos will be shown once they are in her hands, or better yet on her feet. I do hope they fit. That's the big worry at the moment.
Second sock syndrome did occur when I was having a wee bit of trouble picking up stitches with Jinxsa's sock B, I started the next sock project and had to force myself to PUT IT DOWN so that I could actually CONCENTRATE ON PICKING UP STITCHES and work on the sock at hand.
Now that I have two sets of sock dpns I think second sock syndrome may start occurring more often. I am beginning to shy away from wooden dpns. After Tuesday (the cat) chewed on one of the 2.5mm's and I chipped one of my 2.75mm needles. I can't wait until July when I can go to Loop and get less expensive addi turbo needles. So that I can attempt magic loop and knit two socks at once. Thus evading second sock syndrome.
As you can see from the list below, this is how much addi turbo needles cost in the UK. Multiply the price by 2.5 and that's how much you'd pay for a pair of needles in Canadian dollars. So for example, 2.5mm 60cm long addi turbo needles cost you £3.75 (which includes VAT-aka TAX) or $9.38 Canadian. What a deal? Eh?
Check out there site. I kid you not.

Addi Turbo needles can spoil a grrl. I only have one set and I love them!
Well.....I have several pairs of dpns in all sock sizes AND all the Addis and the new Hiyahiyas and the consequence is having at least three pair going at all times. I USED to concentrate on one pair at a time....I hope you are able to continue knitting one pair at a time!
